The IMGA launches its first Blockchain Games Competition and Summit

Marseille, France – August 21, 2018 – The International Mobile Gaming Awards, founded in 2004, and today the largest mobile games competition in the world, with Conferences and Awards Ceremonies in Nanjing, China, Manila, Philippines, Amman, Jordan, Helsinki, Finland, and San Francisco, United States, announced today the launch of a dedicated campaign for a Blockchain competition.

The Awards will be handed out during the Annual Gamefest, which takes place in Manila, Philippines on 25 October 2018.

The announcement is made exactly 10 years after the launch of Bitcoin, the much talked about cryptocurrency, which laid the foundation for the emergence of Blockchain Games.

A Blockchain Game, or Crypto Game is based on the Blockchain. Players are rewarded with a crypto asset when they achieve certain goals. The first Blockchain Game, Huntercoin, was launched in 2014 and many others followed. The most famous Blockchain Game is Cryptokitties, a collection game.

“We want to find out if Blockchain Games are any fun.” Says Maarten Noyons, founder of the IMGA. “There is a lot of hype around these games, so it is a good time to look at all these games seriously and to pick out the best games. We are committed to giving players some solid advice, when we announce the nominees and winners. We hope we will find amazing experiences, including great rewards with tradeable assets. Being paid for playing is a dream many people share.”

The competition will go live today. Submission can be done by simply sending a link to Blockchain@imgawards.com, with information about the publisher and a short description of the game. Links to trailers and whitepapers (pdf only) can be added as well.

About the Blockchain games Competition

The IMGA Blockchain Competition is a worldwide competition for the best games build on the Blockchain. The key criteria for submission are that the games have to be playable, even if they haven’t fully launched yet and there must be a reward for the player in the form of a crypto asset.

Deadline for entries is October 15, 2018 and submission can be done simply by sending a link to the game to Blockchain@imgawards.com

The submissions will be judged by a team of experts in video games and decentralized apps and the winner will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Manila on 25 October.
